Introduction

Gallions Housing Association and it's Partners welcome you to the web site of Ecopark - "a remarkably forward thinking yet practical experiment in social housing design".

At the Kyoto conference in 1997 participating governments agreed environmental targets aimed at reducing the environmental inpact of human society. Ecopark shows how the UK social housing sector can contribute to environmental sustainability using the Dutch Green Financing Model to drive the concepts, design and construction techniques. Part of our aim is to demonstrate how these features can be Replicated throughout the social and private housing sectors and integrated into construction practices throughout the UK.

Ecopark is an affordable housing scheme of 39, two three and four bedroom houses. One of the 39 houses will be occupied by the naked house exhibition and is located adjacent to the Visitors' Centre. There are also 8 flats for open market rent.

Through Ecopark, we want to demonstrate that sustainable living isn't something new and cutting-edge, needing a huge effort and an immense budget. Our homes contain a combination of cost-effective and applied energy saving and sustainable principles.
